501(c)(3) public charities are the most common organizations on the GoFundMe Charity platform, but we also support other eligible US nonprofit types as well as Canadian registered charities.
If your organization is already listed on our platform (you can check here), then you're all set to begin raising money.
If not, you can follow the applicable steps below to determine if your organization is eligible to add it to our platform.
US 501(c)(3) public charities (most common)
Any financial administrator of the charity can enroll in PayPal Giving Fund with the steps below, which will automatically add the charity to our platform.
- Create a PayPal account or make sure that your existing PayPal account is upgraded to a business account: https://www.paypal.com/bizsignup.
- Confirm your charity's status here: https://www.paypal.com/charities. After you submit the required information, PayPal will follow up with you by email within three business days. You can move to step 3 here after you receive PayPal's confirmation email.
- Enroll in PayPal Giving Fund here: https://www.paypal.com/givingfund/enroll.
Your charity will appear on our platform a day or two after enrollment is complete, and then you can follow the steps in this article to claim your charity.
Other eligible US charities
In order to be eligible for addition to the GoFundMe Charity platform, other US charities must be listed in the GuideStar database and be one of the types noted below.
