Donors who make a donation to a US-based charity will receive an automatic tax receipt. Donors will not receive a tax receipt to Canadian charities unless otherwise organized by an administrator.
Donations to US Certified Charities
GoFundMe Charity provides a receipt via email for every donation.
For nonprofits collecting their donations through WePay, donors will receive one receipt by email which includes all the necessary information that the IRS requires so it can be considered for a tax deduction. You can always check with a tax professional to be sure.
For nonprofits on PayPal Giving Fund (default), every donor will receive a donation confirmation. Every donor also gets a tax receipt from PayPal Giving Fund for each donation they make. PayPal Giving Fund sends tax receipts to donors by email.
We advise donors to consult a tax professional for questions about charitable tax-deductions.
Donations to Canadian Certified Charities
By default, GoFundMe Charity does not send receipts on behalf Canadian nonprofits. However, at request of the nonprofit, we can turn receipting on.
In order to turn on automatic receipts, we will request the charity to provide us with a JPG image (at least 175 pixels wide) containing the signature of an authorized representative from your charity. This will be digitally embedded into each receipt to remain in compliance with Canadian tax law. Please contact us to set up Canadian tax receipts.
