If you would like to refund a donor or participant ticket, look no further!
Refunding a donation
- Sign into your account
- Click your icon in the top right hand corner
- Click Revenue
- Search for your donor's name or email
- Click on their name
- Click the white Refund button on the top right hand corner.
If it's a ticket, you won't be able to refund here, but you can navigate to the order number by clicking View order to refund from there.

- Click Campaigns
- Click the three dots to the right of Edit and View on your campaign
- Click Manage Campaign
- Click Registration to access your Registration Manager (to the right of the Overview tab)
- Search the ticket buyer's name under Orders
- Click the name of the individual who you would like to refund
- Click Refund on the top right
If it's not available, please let us know.
For donations processed through PayPal Giving Fund, we can issue refunds until the donation has been paid out to the charity. Using the transaction ID from their donation receipt, donors can track the progress of their money being delivered to the charity here: PayPal Giving Fund donation tracker.
For donations processed by WePay, we can typically issue refunds up to 90 days from the date of the donation, pending approval from the charity.
It typically takes 3-7 business days for money to return to a donor once we issue a refund.
Donors requesting refunds
Donors, if you'd like to request a refund, please try to reach out to the charity or organizer of the campaign you donated to first before contacting us, and ideally you can ask them to request the refund on your behalf. We can process refunds much more quickly when the request originates from the charity or organizer.
Of course, if you can't get in touch with the charity or organizer, please feel free to contact us directly. We'll need to know which email address you used to donate as well as the amount of the donation and the campaign or charity you donated to
Organizers & charities requesting refunds
Charity admins and fundraiser organizers, please contact us if you'd like to refund a donation or set of donations. We'll need to know the names of the donors as well as the amounts of their donations and the campaign they donated to.
Charities are also welcome to offer and issue refunds to donors outside of our GoFundMe Charity platform through their own accounting systems, but please note that donor requests for refunds like this can be a sign of high-risk payment activity. When in doubt, please contact us first.
